BriskHeat HM Metal-Housed Heating Mantles are fiberglass insulated round bottom flask heaters for laboratory and pilot laboratory applications. They are used to heat a variety of round bottom shaped vessels, to either increased temperature or keep media at constant process temperature. All heating mantles are manufactured to high-quality standards of craftsmanship.

The exterior of the HM Metal-Housed Heating Mantle with Built-in Controller is a plastic-coated metal casing, with a pre-molded fiberglass liner to hold the round-bottom flasks. The heating element consists of a chrome-nickel alloy resistance wire which is electrically insulated using a crocheted high-temperature yarn. The adapted shape ensures an even heat transition to the glass flask, and a layer of fiberglass insulation under the heating element reduces heat dissipation to increase efficiency.

Question: "How does the mantle stir the contents in the flask? " By R.Rodgers
Answer: " A PTFE-coated magnetic stir bar is placed into the contents of the round-bottom flask. An internal magnet underneath the heater rotates, which causes the pellet to follow and stir the liquid."
Question: "What are the most common round-bottom flask heating applications? "
Answer: "The most common are: Heating and/or boiling of a liquid Distillation Contain chemical reactions, especially for reflux set-ups and lab-scale synthesis Storage of culture media
Question: "Are there any special installation steps I need to know before I start operation?"
Answer: "These are plug-and-play units which do not require any additional wiring or set-up. If a support rod is required, the support clamp accessory is attached to the side of the mantle to hold the support rod into position. *Always read the instruction manual prior to use."
Question: Why do the larger mantles have 2 zones?
Answer: "A Min/Max heater switch is used to control heating for low/high volumes of flask contents. Larger mantles have 2 zones to allow the user to only heat the lower portion of the flask when lower volumes are heated."
Question: "What if I need more precise temperature control?"
Answer: "Metal-housed mantles can be used in conjunction with independent temperature controllers for enhanced temperature accuracy. We recommend the SDX Digital PID controller."
Question: "Can these mantles be used to heat other objects that have different lower dimensions than the round-bottom flasks?"
Answer: "They can but it is not recommended as the heating process may be extremely inefficient"
