Drums and Barrels: Plastic, Steel & Fiber

Drums and Barrels: Plastic, Steel & Fiber
BayTec supplies a wide range of industrial drums including plastic drums, steel drums, and fiber drums designed for safe storage and transportation of chemicals, food ingredients, and industrial materials. These containers are available in both open top drums with removable lids and closed head drums with bung openings, allowing customers to select the proper container for liquids, powders, and bulk materials.

Our plastic drums are manufactured from high molecular-weight, high-density polyethylene (HDPE) to provide excellent strength, durability, and chemical resistance. These heavy-duty containers are widely used for industrial storage, chemical processing, agriculture, and manufacturing applications.

Many of our containers are also available as UN-approved drums, manufactured to meet strict regulatory requirements for the safe handling and transport of hazardous and non-hazardous materials. The durable construction of these industrial storage drums allows for reliable handling while helping reduce shipping and handling costs.

Efficient storage and transport require specialized containers tailored to specific material properties. From high-density polyethylene (HDPE) plastics and heavy-duty steel to sustainable fiberboard and large-scale IBC totes, selecting the correct vessel ensures product integrity, safety, and regulatory compliance. Additionally, specialized systems for water collection and purification provide essential utility for agricultural, emergency, and industrial water management.

Plastic Barrels and Drums Plastic barrels are primarily manufactured from high-molecular-weight high-density polyethylene (HDPE), making them resistant to impacts and a wide range of chemicals. These containers are available in open-head configurations for solids and semi-solids, and tight-head (closed) configurations for liquids. Because they are corrosion-proof and BPA-free, they are the standard choice for food-grade ingredients, pharmaceuticals, and corrosive chemicals.

Steel Drums and Metal Barrels For materials requiring extreme durability or fire resistance, steel drums provide the highest structural integrity. Available in carbon steel for general use or stainless steel for high-purity applications, these barrels are designed to withstand high-pressure sterilization and rigorous shipping conditions. They are commonly used for hazardous waste, flammable liquids, and industrial lubricants, often featuring interior linings to prevent chemical reactions with the metal.

Fiber Drums and Cardboard Drums Fiber drums offer a lightweight, cost-effective, and eco-friendly alternative for storing dry, granular, or powdered products. Constructed from high-strength kraft paperboard, these containers are surprisingly durable and fully recyclable. They are frequently utilized in the pharmaceutical and food industries for shipping bulk powders, as they provide excellent insulation and are easier to dispose of than metal or plastic counterparts.

IBC Totes and Tanks Intermediate Bulk Containers (IBCs), or totes, are designed for the high-volume storage of liquids and granulated materials. A single 275-gallon or 330-gallon tote replaces approximately five to six standard drums, significantly optimizing warehouse space and shipping efficiency. These tanks feature integrated pallets for forklift maneuverability and bottom-discharge valves for controlled dispensing of chemicals, resins, and food syrups.

Rain Barrels and Water Collection Systems Rain barrels and collection systems provide a sustainable method for capturing and storing storm run-off. These systems typically include debris screens, overflow valves, and brass spigots for easy hose connection. By harvesting rainwater, users can reduce municipal water consumption for landscaping, gardening, and livestock, while simultaneously mitigating erosion and run-off issues on their property.

Water Barrels, Rain Barrels and Water Bags Long-term water storage requires specialized containers that prevent UV penetration and algae growth. Potable water barrels (usually blue HDPE) and collapsible water bags are essential for emergency preparedness. Water bags offer a unique advantage by providing high-capacity storage that can be folded flat when empty, making them ideal for rapid deployment in disaster relief or remote site operations.

Purogene Water Treatment Maintaining the safety of stored water requires effective disinfection. Purogene is a highly refined sodium chlorite solution used to treat potable water tanks. It is effective at eliminating bacteria, viruses, and odors without leaving the harsh chemical taste associated with standard chlorine. This treatment ensures that water stored in barrels or IBC tanks remains safe for consumption over extended periods.
