Oil Safe Color Coded Lids for Lubrication Control

- Color coded lids to avoid mix ups (Ten colors to choose from Yellow, Red, Blue, Light Green, Dark Green, Purple, Orange, Black, Blue, Grey/Gray & Tan/Beige)
- HDPE construction with anti-static agents and UV stabilizers
- Protect expensive lubricants from contamination
Lids are interchangeable with each size of Oil Safe® container.
Heavy walled high density polyethylene construction for use in industrial environments provide a service temperature range of -40° F to 176° F.
Storage Lid (blue lid in photo) is used to store pre-filled containers and ergonomically friendly when manually transporting them.
Utility Lid (green lid in photo) is a multi-purpose lid with a large outlet for fast and controlled pouring of lubricants. Attach the Oil Safe® Pump to this lid for use with a 3, 5, or 10 liter/quart container.
Stretch Spout Lid (red lid in photo) is designed for precise pouring, including in hard to reach areas. It is ideal for lower viscosity oils. Add an optional hose attachment to extend the spout length for hard to reach areas.
Mini Spout Lid (purple lid in photo) has an outlet diameter of approximately 7 mm (9/32") that is ideal for dispensing into small filler holes.
Stumpy Spout Lid (yellow lid in photo) is especially designed for applications where a higher lubricant flow is required. Add an optional hose attachment to extend the spout length for hard to reach areas.
Content Labels are available in all ten colors for color coordinating with lids. A generic black bordered label ships with each container.
Safety Warning: Not for use with strong oxidizing acids, solvents, or fuels.
| Product | Lid Type | Primary Function | Outlet / Access Style | Typical Use |

| Oil Safe Utility Lid | Utility Lid | Fast controlled pouring | Large outlet, approximately 2 inches | Lubricant pouring and pump attachment |
| Oil Safe Stretch Spout Lid | Extended Spout Lid | Precise pouring into hard-to-reach areas | Long spout, approximately 0.5 inch opening | Lower viscosity oils and recessed fill points |
| Mini Spout Lid Oil Safe Color Coded Lid | Mini Spout Lid | Small-point dispensing | Approximately 7 mm / 9/32 inch outlet | Small filler holes, constant level oilers, and machine tools |
| Stumpy Spout Lid Oil Safe Color Coded Lid | High-Flow Spout Lid | Higher lubricant flow | Short spout with optional hose attachment | General filling where faster flow is required |
Configuration Analysis Oil Safe color coded lids are built around different dispensing and storage requirements. The Storage Lid is used to close and transport pre-filled containers while helping protect lubricants from airborne contamination. The Utility Lid has a large outlet for controlled high-volume pouring and can be used with Oil Safe pump systems on 3, 5, or 10 liter/quart containers. The Stretch Spout Lid is designed for controlled pouring into fill points that are difficult to reach. The Mini Spout Lid uses a narrow outlet for small filler openings, while the Stumpy Spout Lid supports higher lubricant flow where a compact spout is preferred.
Material Engineering These lids are made from heavy-walled high density polyethylene, commonly used for industrial fluid handling components because it resists many oils and common lubricants. The material includes anti-static agents and UV stabilizers, supporting use in maintenance areas where containers may be handled frequently or exposed to light. The lid body is designed to withstand shop use without relying on metal parts for the main housing. The stated service temperature range of -40° F to 176° F covers many lubricant storage and transfer settings, but it does not make the lids suitable for every chemical group.
Color Coding and Contamination Control The main function of the color system is to reduce lubricant cross-contamination. Facilities often use different oils for gearboxes, hydraulic systems, compressors, bearings, and machine tools. Using a dedicated lid color for each lubricant type helps maintenance staff identify the correct container before filling equipment. Available colors include Yellow, Red, Blue, Light Green, Dark Green, Purple, Orange, Black, Grey/Gray, and Tan/Beige. Content labels may be used with the same color system, and a generic black-bordered label ships with each container.
Regulatory and Safety Considerations Oil Safe lids are not listed as hazardous material shipping closures and should not be treated as UN-rated shipping components unless paired with a tested and certified package system. Their purpose is lubricant handling, dispensing, and contamination control inside maintenance operations. The listed safety warning states that these lids are not for use with strong oxidizing acids, solvents, or fuels. Buyers should verify lubricant compatibility before use, especially when handling synthetic oils, additives, aggressive fluids, or materials outside standard lubrication programs.
Industrial Applications These lids are used in preventive maintenance, fleet service, manufacturing, machine shops, utility plants, food processing maintenance areas, and equipment repair operations. The Storage Lid supports pre-filled container staging near machinery. The Utility Lid supports faster dispensing and pump use. The Stretch Spout Lid is suited for recessed fill points and hard-to-reach equipment. The Mini Spout Lid is used for small oil ports, constant level oilers, and precision lubrication points. The Stumpy Spout Lid is used where higher flow is needed without a long spout.
Selection Criteria Selection should be based on lubricant viscosity, fill point size, dispensing speed, storage method, and color coding requirements. Lower viscosity oils generally work better with longer or narrower spouts, while higher flow applications may require the Stumpy or Utility style. Small filler openings require the Mini Spout Lid. Facilities using multiple oils should assign a dedicated color to each lubricant type and match the lid color with container labels. For chemical safety, do not use these lids with strong oxidizing acids, solvents, or fuels, and verify compatibility before placing them into service.
